The WNC Black Methodists for Church Renewal, the Justice & Reconciliation Team and the Commission for Religion and Race have set the 2021 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Service for Saturday, January 16, 2021. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Joseph Daniels, the Senior Pastor of Emory Fellowship United Methodist Church, Washington DC. The service will be hosted on Zoom, Facebook Live and You Tube Live. The theme is The Urgency of Now:Ushering in the Kingdom of God, with Luke 17:20-21 as the key verse for the day. The sponsors invite you to join Bishop Leeland and friends from across Western North Carolina for worship, music and a powerful message of hope and reconciliation. The offering for the day will go to RISE! A Multi-Cultural Consulting Cooperative. Two special opportunities during the event will be recognizing the Drum Major for Service Award Honorees and a Youth and Young Adult Contest.
